She graduated with a Master’s and went ahead to pursue her Ph.D. in theoretical computer science. As a female MMA fighter, Rosi Sexton has set the bar high for future MMA fighters. She is proof that there is enough room in the world for everyone to pursue all their passions.

Shane Carwin

Shane Carwin is yet another brilliant MMA fighter who is proof that looks can indeed be deceiving. He’s an alumnus of the Colorado School of Mines where he graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He later went on to study Environmental Technology at West state College and graduated with another BS degree.

Shane Carwin became a professional engineer after college before beginning his journey as an MMA fighter. He is currently a volunteer coach at North Colorado University. He is the perfect example of a multi-potential who has succeeded in nurturing all his talents and still has the time to give back to society.

Jeff Monson

Jeff Monson began his MMA fighting journey in the University of Oregon. He competed as a Division I fighter and was quite successful in that category. Later when he moved to the University of Illinois, he didn’t stop participating in MMA fights.

While he was fighting, Jeff Monson was also pursuing a degree in psychology. He has years of experience as a respondent in the sector of crisis assessment. He also practiced as a family psychologist, specializing in children’s psychology.

Jeff Monson is quite passionate about mental health and never misses an opportunity to give back to the society. To him, practicing as a psychologist and winning MMA fighters are equally important.

Rich Franklin

Rich Franklin is an alumnus of the University of Cincinnati. He graduated from the institution with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. He later on pursued a Master’s degree in mathematics at the same university. Joe Lauzon’s first encounter with fighting was his participation in martial arts in high school. After high school, he committed to actively training as a fighter. He later explored his interest in technical education before joining the Wentworth Institute of Technology. Joe Lauzon graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. He worked briefly as a system administrator in Cambridge before fully committing to MMA training.

Terry Martin

Terry Martin almost became a victim of teenage shootings in his neighborhood when he was fifteen. He sustain serious injuries from a car accident and received five bullets in his chest, back and leg.

This was the moment he turned his back on the gang to focus on his education. He was the first member of his family to get a high school diploma and he never stopped there. After high school, Terry Martin joined university to pursue a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree. He is currently a student at the Alder School of Psychology, Chicago campus. He hopes to graduate with a doctorate in psychology.

Takeya Mizugaki

Most people know Takeya Mizugaki as a combat champion thanks to his 23 wins. Well, he also holds a Master’s degree in electrical engineering. Mizugaki is an alumnus of the Kanto Gakuin University. While he has since retired from martial arts, Takeya Mizugaki remains a household name in the MMA community.
