Nainoa Dung is a name to remember heading into 2019.

The young striking stand-out got his first Bellator victory at Bellator 213 in Honolulu’, Hawaii – his home state. Dung was able to withstand a tough first round to eventually get the third round stoppage via TKO against fellow Hawaiian prospect Kona Oliveira. Leading up to the fight, there was no love lost between the two. Both Kona and Nainoa exchanged heated words, intense face-offs, and a memorable weigh-in the night before the event. Eventually, Nainoa pulled off the victory, utilizing his grappling and striking skills. However, it was his heart and cardio that was able to win him the later round and exhaust Kona.

All of his strengths were supposedly my weaknesses. I went out there and did my thing and I showed I’m more than just a kickboxer

Now 2-0 in his professional career and 1-0 in Bellator, Nainoa is on to bigger and better things. He was granted a multi-fight contract with Bellator. A clear sign that the promotion has faith within the young talent and are hoping to propel him to eventual bigger fights. In modern MMA, it’s one thing to be skillful. But you need to be marketable. Nainoa brings to the table an element of confidence, skills and a unique pool of talent on the mic.

Anybody listening, or watching, thats something I wanted to say. A lot of people have been against what i’ve been doing and what ive been saying.  Try to tell me how to do things and I never listen. I just kept being me, kept doing my thing and I’m here now. You know, I’m signed, i’m 2-0 and im looking forward to the future.

With so many prospects within the Bellator organization, it is hard to stand-out. For Nainoa, his strategy is to take all the other prospects out so that he is the last one standing. Speaking exclusively to Sasha Moks of The Complete Knockout (Via FightBook MMA), Nainoa challenged Aviv Gozali to a match. Gozali in his own right was able to win his promotional debut at Bellator 209, in his home country of Israel. Dubbing each as “The Prince of Israel” and “The Prince of Hawaii”, it seems a match between these two young men might be in the future.

Theres another young prospect. His name is Aviv Gozali. You know, his dad is a big fighter. He just made his pro debut recently, and theyre calling him the prince of Israel well hey, im the prince of Hawaii. Let’s get it.

Bellator may have found a talented fighter within their organization. Nainoa signing the multi-fight deal shows his commitment and loyalty to the company. With the competition of MMA evolving, it’s always a fighters dream to be their respective organization’s prized fighter. Dung believes he has not only the tools but the following to push himself and Bellator to that next level.

It’s hard to explain. Yiu either got it or you dont. I think I got it. When its show time, and the cameras are on I shine. It’s not like im fake and im planning these things. These things are just happening.

Look forward as Nainoa looks to continue his impressive run within the Bellator organization. Stay tuned to FightBook MMA for all the latest updates in the world of MMA.
