Nate Diaz Responds to Mike Tyson Praising Conor McGregor’s Performance Against Floyd Mayweather.

The feud between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor continues despite Diaz’s exit from the UFC. Their first fight occurred at UFC 196 in March 2016. Diaz stunned everyone by submitting the previously undefeated featherweight champion in the second round, even though McGregor had moved up to welterweight for the bout. After outworking Diaz over five rounds, McGregor got his revenge five months later at UFC 202, winning a majority decision.
Despite fans’ persistent calls for a third match, it’s doubtful that it will happen since Diaz left the UFC last year. After the second Diaz fight, McGregor dominated Eddie Alvarez to become the first UFC fighter to win titles in two weight classes. McGregor then participated in his boxing debut in 2017, fighting Floyd Mayweather for a $100 million purse. Although Mayweather stopped him in round ten, McGregor’s performance against one of the greatest boxers in history left a lasting impression on many, including boxing legend Mike Tyson.

Tyson, speaking on The Hotboxin podcast, expressed his admiration for McGregor’s performance against Mayweather. He marvelled at the fact that McGregor had never fought a professional boxing match before, yet was able to score punches against one of the sport’s greatest practitioners. Tyson went on to say that some people wanted Mayweather to beat McGregor solely because of race, ignoring the impressive challenge that McGregor presented.

Diaz was quick to respond to Tyson’s comments, reminding everyone of his victory over McGregor with a rear-naked choke submission. Diaz tweeted that he had “taken him all the way out in about eight minutes right before that,” indicating that McGregor had been soundly beaten.
Diaz is set to make his boxing debut in 2023, with fights against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Jake Paul being discussed since he left the UFC. Whether Diaz will ever return to the UFC to resolve his feud with McGregor is still unknown.
