Nemesis Fighting Alliance: Titans

Nemesis Fighting Alliance is back in action Saturday August 17th at the Casa Loma Ballroom in St. Louis, MO. NFA has checked all the boxes for fight fans with super heavyweights, young raising stars, and two of the best female kickboxers in the country.

This loaded card will be headlined by a Featherweight title fight featuring Austin Peterson (6-3) taking on Josh Augustine (2-0). Augustine is stepping up on late notice as “The Sniper” Sean Woodson signed with the UFC after a vicious flying knee knockout on Dana White’s Contender Series just a couple of weeks ago. This will be Augustine’s third trip into the NFA cage and if the first two fights are any indication it could make for a short night for the St. Charles MMA product. Peterson will come into hostile territory and look to play spoiler. “Crazy Eyes” will be back in the cage after a two-year layoff and a few cancelled bouts in that time span. Will cage rust a factor? That remains to be seen but this will fun for fight fans.

Welterweight K1 will be featured in the co main event as Drew Gigax will be opposite DJ Miller. Miller the Nashville, Tennessee native will come in hungry and ready with a number of different championships on his resume. Gigax is no stranger to NFA fans and has long been known for his well versed striking. This is a striker delight matchup and could be a fight of the night contender.

Bantamweight veterans Ray Grindstaff (5-5) and Will Shutt (23-29-1) will lock horns. Grindstaff will see the NFA cage for the fist time but should be no stranger to fight fans having fought under a number of different regional promotion banners. “Gator” is back on the scene in 2019 after a lengthy lay off but will look to get back on the winning track having lost his last outing via first round triangle. Shutt is a midwest mma staple. He steps back under the NFA lights after losing a unanimous decision to highly touted prospect Eric Ellington for the NFA bantamweight championship (Ellington has since signed with LFA). This will be a fun grinding fight from two savvy veterans.

Kevin Brown (5-7) and Keyth Dawson (0-1) will go to work in a welterweight clash. Brown will look to rebound from a quick submission loss to Jordan Dowdy at the previous NFA event. Dawson will also be trying to right a wrong after a first round tko loss in his pro debut. With both fighters trying to rebound that will make the stakes that much higher and the fireworks that much brighter.

BIG BOYS open the pro portion of the card as Max McNeely (2-4) does battle with Charles Rodgers (3-2) in super heavyweight action. McNeely will be looking to build off his first round tko victory in his last outing. Rodgers is back in the cage for the first time in four plus years. With supers you know the power will be there for both McNeely and Rodgers this one will come down to who has the superior gas tank. This will be a sleeper fight of the night type of brawl.

The amateur portion of the card will be highlighted with two title fights. Sam “Night Night” Paneitz (12-1) and David Johnson (7-3) will get the top billing as they go head to head for the NFA bantamweight title. “Night Night” is the reigning Tuff n Uff bantamweight champion having defended it the last time he was in the cage. Paneitz is one of those fighters that people buy a ticket for to see if the hype is real and by the eye test there is no doubt this young man is destine to great things in this sport, that being said Johnson is coming into the contest having won his last three and is no stranger to top level competition. This bout oozes talent and a very high pace.

The first title up for grabs will be the female flyweight K1 strap that will see Elizabeth Helton take on Lisa Mucci. Helton a WAKO Team USA Kickboxing member has fought and trained with some of the best kickboxers on the planet which should make for some very fun exchanges. Mucci is a muay thai veteran that has also fought and trained with some of the best on the planet. This makes for a controlled fire fight that will have fans on their feet. Even with a stacked card this title fight is the pick for fight of the night. Look for both ladies to do even bigger things in the near future.
