Katelyn Radtka goes for her third straight victory at Shamrock FC 321 on Saturday in Kansas City, MO, LIVE on FITE. Before that, she checked in with FightBook MMA.
How did you find MMA to begin with?
I met my husband in 2009 and he was actively fighting at the time. The rest is history (laughs).
If someone told you when you were growing up that you’d one day be a professional fighter, would you have believed them?
Absolutely not! My dad still hates it so much, so I wouldn’t (laughs).
Does he go to your fights?
He awaits the results at home (laughs). He hasn’t been to a single fight and he never will.
After losing your first five fights in a row, what is it that kept you going?
You know, I just love it and I’m addicted to it. The drive never left me, and I knew I was a lot better than that record would indicate.
Are you more motivated now that you’re on a two-fight win streak, or is it just business as usual?
Definitely more motivated!
What’s been the biggest reason for your win streak?
Proper training and preparation.
How excited are you to make it three in a row?
I’m so excited; I can’t wait!
What’s the most likely outcome for your fight Saturday?
Submission — I’m trying to end it in the first round.
Do you plan on fighting as a professional down the road?
I do, yes, but I’m not sure when that will be. That decision will be made by team when I’m ready for the next step in my career.
