The Professional Fighters League (PFL), the first organization ever to present MMA through a Regular Season, Playoffs and Championship format, continued its PFL International Qualifier Series in Brazil at ViVi Arena in Rio de Janeiro. In partnership with Shooto Brazil, four women’s lightweight fighters competed in a fight twice in one-night tournament, with the winner earning her shot at a coveted spot in the 2020 PFL season.

Shooto Brazil’s bantamweight champion, Dayana Silva (8-4), moved up to 155 pounds to face Mariana Morais (14-10) in one semifinal matchup. Both Silva and Morais entered the fight following unanimous decision victories over Sidy Rocha at Shooto Brazil 95 and Shooto Brazil 99 respectively. On the other side of the bracket, Bianca Daimoni (7-3) faced Yana Gadelha (4-0). Daimoni had five early stoppage victories in her career and was looking to rebound from a defeat at Invicta FC 29. Gadelha had yet to taste defeat, accumulating a 4-0 career record, with three victories by way of early submission.
The International Qualifier Series takes place February through March, with fighters from four international markets, including Russia, United Arab Emirates, Brazil and Germany, competing in fight twice in one-night tournaments. The winner in each market earns the opportunity to secure a coveted spot in the PFL 2020 season and a chance to fight for the one million-dollar PFL championship belts. The PFL IQS live tournaments are staged and distributed by the PFL’s co-promotion partners in each respective market and made available in the United States on ESPN+.
The PFL International Qualifier Series next heads to Germany on March 18 at NFT Gym in Krefeld. In partnership with Ran Fighting, four featherweight fighters will compete in a fight twice in one-night tournament, with the winner earning his shot at a coveted spot in the 2020 PFL season.
