Professional Fighters League (PFL) 2 official results, fighter quotes and score cards

Professional Fighters League (PFL) 2 takes place at the iconic Chicago Theatre in Chicago, Illinois, on June 21 at 5 p.m. CT. This event will air live in primetime exclusively on NBCSN.

This event is part of the “regular season” as fighters try to tally points for the “postseason” playoff tournaments.  In the main event, Luiz Firmino (20-8) will take on Will Brooks (18-4).

PFL2 Official Results, quotes and score cards:

Dan Spohn def. Bazigit Ataev by TKO (referee stoppage due to strikes) at 4:31 of the third round. Spohn earns four points towards making the 2018 PFL Playoffs with the third round stoppage.

Dan Spohn:

“Dan Spohn – It felt amazing out there in the cage — truly one of the best experiences in my fight career. Next time in Long Island. I’m going to end it sooner. I can do better and I want to show that.”

Natan Shulte defeated Chris Wade by unanimous decision (30-26, 29-28 and 30-26) and earned three points towards making the 2018 PFL Playoffs.

Natan Shulte:

“One year and three months without fighting. Thank you to all my supporters, thank you God! This one is for you Santa Catarina, Brazil!”

Robert Watley defeated Thiago Tavares by TKO (referee stoppage due to an accidental low blow) at 0:35 of the second round. The victory gives Watley five points towards making the 2018 PFL Playoffs.

Robert Watley:

“It was an incredible feeling out there–the crowd was awesome. I’m happy I won and got through relatively unscathed and I’m ready to start preparing for my second fight in August.”

Maxim Grishin defeated Jason Butcher by TKO (injury) at 1:40 of the first round. With the win Grishin earned six points towards making the 2018 PFL Playoffs.

Maxim Grishin:

“When i made the first step into the cage, I knew I was going to win. I’m sorry my opponent got injured, as a fighter myself I know what it’s like.”

Vinny Magalhaes defeated Jamie Abdullah by submission (rear naked-choke) at 1:37 of the first round. With the win Magalhaes earns six points towards making the 2018 PFL Playoffs.

Vinny Magalhaes:

““This is just to prove that MMA doesn’t work… it’s all about Jiu Jitsu.”

Islam Mamedov defeated Yuki Kawana by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27 and 29-28) to earn three points towards the 2018 PFL Playoffs.

“The fight didn’t go exactly as I wanted. I made some errors and like everyone else, I wanted to stop the fight early, but I still was able to get the job done.”

Brandon Halsey defeated Smealinho Rama by TKO (referee stoppage) at 0:01 of the third round. With the win Halsey earns four points towards making the 2018 PFL Playoffs.

Brandon Halsey:

“The fight felt a bit sluggish at first but I toughed it out. Next time I’ll come in a lot lighter and get more explosive.”

Shawn O’Connell defeated Ronny Markes by TKO (referee stoppage-strikes) at 0:41 of the second round. With the win O’Connell earns five points towards making the 2018 PFL Playoffs.

Shawn O’Connell:

“I’m obviously very happy with the result. I needed confirmation that I still belonged in the sport. I thought Ronny had a chance to win the season. I knew that if I could get past him I would be in the driver’s seat. I feel vindicated.”

Efrain Escudero defeated Jason High by submission (guillotine choke) at 0:35 of the third round. After not making weight, Escudero is ineligible to earn any points towards making the 2018 PFL Playoffs.

Efrain Escudero:

“I thought I would be more out of shape, but I saw Jason was gassing out. I understand that we are all emotional, but we also have to understand we’re not the judges. And I felt a little tap and I knew it was just a matter of time before he gassed out anyway.”

Kayla Harrison defeated Brittney Elkin by submission (armbar) at 3:18 of the first round in her MMA debut.

Kayla Harrison:

“The waiting before the fight is the hardest part. You go through a million scenarios in your head. But once I got here, I started to feel like the old Kayla. You always wonder if you still have that fire–if I’ll still be the same Kayla. Being a competitor and being out here competing and putting everything on the line is when I feel most alive.”

Brian Foster defeated Ramsey Nijem by KO at 0:23 of the third round. With the knockout win Foster earns four points towards the 2018 PFL Playoffs.

Brian Foster:

“Going into that third round, I had my coaches and teammates telling me to stay focused, get my timing right, see openings as they come, and react. And I did. I’m still in it and I’ve got another fight to go.”

Will Brooks defeated Luiz Firmino by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27 and 30-27) to earn three points towards making the 2018 PFL Playoffs.

“I knew we were going to have to fight the whole 15 minutes because that guy is tough. He wasn’t going away and I knew I’d have to work hard.”
