Rashad Evans to meet Anthony Smith in the light heavyweight division at UFC 225
CHICAGO (Mon, March 12, 2018)– UFC 225 takes place June 9 at United Center in Chicago. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass, though the full lineup ands bout order haven’t been finalized.
UFC officials announced via ESPN.com that Rashad Evans (19-7-1 MMA, 14-7-1 UFC) is returning to the light heavyweight and will take on Anthony Smith (28-13 MMA, 4-2 UFC) at UFC 225.
Evans was the UFC light-heavyweight champion from 2008-2009 and hasn’t won a fight since defeating Chael Sonnen at UFC 167: St. Pierre vs. Hendricks via TKO in Round 1 at the 4:05 mark. Smith is also moving up from middleweight, he won four of his first five UFC fights since joining the promotion back in 2016. In his most recent fight he did lose to Thiago “Marreta” Santos via TKO in the second round but he did pick up “Fight of the Night” awards.
