At the time of publication, an official venue, or location for the showcase has yet to be determined by the organization.

Last week, reports emerged detailing how Volkanovski was targeted to headline UFC 272 on March 5. in a featherweight title trilogy bout against former titleholder, Max Holloway, however, the pairing quickly fell to the wayside after Holloway had aggravated a prior injury.

For Jung, the South Korean veteran was identified as a potential replacement for the Hawaiian – currently holding the #4 rank at featherweight, and the highest-ranking available featherweight coming off a win. Jung had headlined UFC Vegas 29 in June, returning to the winner’s enclosure with a dominant unanimous decision win over Dan Ige. Ariel Helwani was first to report the reshuffled main event.

Set to return for the first time since September, New South Wales native, Volkanovski most recently defeated Brian Ortega at UFC 266 to successfully secure his second defense of the featherweight crown.

For Jung, the Busan native had dropped a prior loss to common-opposition, Ortega in a largely-one sided unanimous decision loss at UFC Fight Island 8 in October 2019.
