A premier targeted landing pad for the UFC in Paris, France has its headliner set. Former interim heavyweight titleholder, Ciryl Gane is expected to headline the organization’s first event in the capital against the #3 rated contender, Tai Tuivasa.
10-1 as a professional, Gane headlined UFC 270 back in January, suffering his first professional loss in the form of a unanimous decision title unification loss against current undisputed champion, Francis Ngannou.
For Tuivasa, the Australian striker featured in a high-profile UFC 271 main card bout against Derrick Lewis back in February, stopping the New Orleans native with a shocking second round knockout win. Italian reporter, Alfredo Zullino was first to report the organization’s landing in France on September 3. – while Ariel Helwani initially reported the targeted main event between Gane and Tuivasa.
Prior to his main event title unification defeat against Ngannou, Gane managed to scoop the interim heavyweight crown with an August knockout win over the above mentioned, Lewis at UFC 265.
In other notable promotional wins, Gane bested the trio of Alexander Volkov, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, and former heavyweight champion, Junior dos Santos.
For Tuivasa, the Austalian managed to land his fifth straight knockout win with his February knockout victory against Lewis – adding the New Orleans native to prior successes opposite Augusto Sakai, Greg Hardy, Harry Hunsucker, and Stefan Struve.
