Former two-time undisputed UFC bantamweight champion, Dominick Cruz is currently targeted to make his first main event outing since January 2016 – in the form of a headlining matchup against the surging, Marlon Vera atop a UFC on ESPN+ 70 card on August 13.
Cruz, a former two-time undisputed bantamweight champion, has been campaigning for a summer return to the Octagon. And per an initial report from ESPN Deportes reporter, Carlos Contreras Legaspi – the San Diego veteran is expected to fight the aforenoted Ecuador striker, Vera in main event matchup before the end of the summer.
Riding a two-fight winning run into his expected August comeback, Cruz most recently defeated Brazilian contender, Pedro Munhoz with a unanimous decision victory at UFC 269 last December in a featured preliminary card slot in Las Vegas, Nevada.
As for Vera, the RUCA (stylized as RVCA) mainstay managed to turn in a hugely-impressive unanimous decision win of his own in the form of a five round main event battering of Rob Font at UFC Vegas 53 in April.

The victory came as the Jason Parillo student’s third on the trot, following a rematch win against Davey Grant – which bookended a highlight-reel front kick KO effort against former lightweight pacesetter, Frankie Edgar at Madison Square Garden in November.
Making his first headlining walk since UFC Fight Night Boston back in January 2016, Cruz managed to reclaim the undisputed bantamweight title that night in Massachusetts, defeating fellow former two-time division kingpin, T.J. Dillashaw with a decision success.
