Current Bellator MMA middleweight champion, Gegard Mousasi will look to make a rather quickfire return to the cage at a June event with the promotion – lining up another title defense against the undefetaed American Top Team trainee, Johnny Eblen. At the time of publication, the event, date, or location for Mousasi’s targeted return against Eblen have yet to be disclosed.

Featuring at Bellator 275 last month in Dublin, Ireland – Mousasi headlined against the undefeated challenger, Austin Vanderford – handing the ATT staple a rather comprehensive first round knockout defeat. The victory came as Mousasi’s second successful defense of his second reign as Bellator middleweight champion.

Improving to 11-0 earlier this month at Bellator 276, Eblen handed common-foe, John Salter a unanimous decision defeat to land his seventh straight win under the promotion’s banner. Ariel Helwani was first to report the targeted tie between Mousasi and Eblen.

Boasting a staggering 49-7-2 professional record, Tehran-born finisher, Mousasi landed his second promotional title back in the main event of Bellator 250 in October 2020 – landing vacant title against then-welterweight kingpin, Douglas Lima.

Prior to his win over Vanderford at The 3Arena, Mousasi stopped the aforenoted, Salter in August of last year with ground strikes in the third round.

A Shamrock FC alum, Eblen, a native of Des Moines, Iowa – has so far enjoyed a dominant run under the Scott Coker-led Bellator banner, scoring the most high-profile win of his tenure with this month’s success against Salter. Eblen added the former title challenge to a résumé that includes triumphs over the likes of Mauricio Alonso, Taylor Johnson, Travis Davis, and Colin Huckbody.
