A high-stakes flyweight pairing of one-time title challenger, Jessica ‘Evil’ Eye and perennial contender, Joanne ‘JoJo’ Calderwood is slated for a UFC event on January 23rd. – with a location or venue for the event yet to be determined by the promotion.

Set for her first Octagon outing since UFC Vegas 2 in June, Ohio native, Eye attempts to rebound to the win column following a unanimous decision defeat to divisional newcomer, Cynthia Calvillo in a main event tilt.

Irvine native, Calderwood looks to kickstart her title run once again, following an opening-round armbar loss to former Invicta FC flyweight best, Jennifer Maia – in what ultimately proved a flyweight title eliminator, with the Brazilian now set to meet champion, Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 255 in November. News of the interesting flyweight clash was first reported by MMA DNA reporter, Marcel Dorff.

Veteran contender, Eye looks to also regain some momentum lost in her summer defeat to Calvillo – following a unanimous decision win over recent winner, Viviane ‘Vivi’ Araújo at UFC 245 in December – whom she shares the January 23rd. event with. Plagued with a string of weight cutting issues, Eye has tipped the flyweight scales in her last two outings.

Earning her way to the flyweight title, Eye had scored three consecutive wins over Kalindra Faria, Jessica-Rose Clark, and Katlyn Chookagian, before dropping her title challenge to the above mentioned, Shevchenko in a brutal second-round high kick knockout.

Calderwood, 33, was initially scheduled to meet with Kyrgyzstan finisher, Shevchenko at a UFC 251 card set for Australia, but choose to take a pairing with Maia after the gold holder was forced to withdraw due to a leg injury.

Prior to her loss to Maia in August – the recent Syndicate MMA mover had managed wins over common-foe, Faria, one-time title challenger, Valérie Létourneau, former KSW best, Ariane Lipski, and one-time LFA flyweight champion, Andrea Lee.
