Report: Ricky Simon vs. Brian Kelleher targeted for UFC Vegas on September 5th.

An exciting featherweight pairing of bantamweight division contenders, Ricky Simon, and Brian ‘Boom’ Kelleher, is currently in the works for a UFC Fight Night Vegas event on September 5th. – with the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada slated to host the card.

Recent winner, Simon will make his second Octagon appearance of the year, following a back-and-forth split decision win over one-time flyweight title challenger, Ray Borg at UFC Fight Night Jacksonville in May.

One of the most active competitors on the promotion’s books, New York native, Kelleher will make his fourth UFC walk of the year already, following his unanimous judging defeat to Cody ‘The Spartan’ Stamann at UFC 250 in June. News of the eye-catching contest was initially penned by MMA Fighting reporters, Mike Heck and Damon Martin.

Former LFA bantamweight titleholder, Simon snapped a two-fight slide in his aforementioned victory over Borg, following a couple of defeats opposite both Rob Font, and former WEC featherweight champion, Urijah Faber.

An alum of Dana White’s Contenders Series – Simon has managed other Octagon wins over Merab Dvalishvili, Montel Jackson, and the ever-present grappling talent, Rani Yahya.

Kelleher, 33 – has impressed in his other two UFC wins this year, taking a stunning second-round knockout win over Hunter Azure, prior to a January guillotine win over Ode Osbourne. Debuting at UFC 212 in March of 2017 – the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt managed a submission win over Iuri Alcântara, before losses against Marlon Vera, John Lineker, and Montel Jackson.

In other wins, Kelleher overcame Damian Stasiak and took a unanimous victory over former bantamweight kingpin and pound-for-pound best, Renan ‘The Baron’ Barão.
