Report – Tatiana Suarez vs. Roxanne Modafferi in the works for UFC 266 on September 25th.

A flyweight matchup between division newcomer, Tatiana Suarez and division veteran, Roxanne Modafferi is currently targeted to feature at UFC 266 on September 25th. — with a location or veteran for the event yet to be determined by the promotion.

According to a report from Ariel Helwani tonight, the promotion are currently working on pairing the undefeated Suarez with the veteran contender, Modafferi for UFC 266 on September 25th. — in a bout that will mark the former’s first Octagon outing since June of 2019, as well as her flyweight divisional bow.

Last featuring at UFC 238 back in June of 2019, The Ultimate Fighter 23 victor took home a unanimous decision success against the recent returner, Nina Nunes. 

For Delaware veteran, Modafferi, the 38-year-old looks to rebound from a unanimous decision defeat against Brazil’s Viviane Araujo at UFC Fight Island 8 in January. Following the loss, Modafferi fell to the #9 in the official UFC flyweight rankings.

California-born grappler, Suarez has featured five times under the UFC’s banner, and recently returned to training following a concussion as well as a series of neck and back injuries. Following the resumption of training, Suarez noted her intentions to test flyweight waters upon her return to the UFC, in a bid to determine whether her weight cut to the strawweight limit of 115lbs was a determining factor in her performances in the division.

8-0 as a professional with three submission stoppages and two knockout wins, Suarez has managed to score UFC victories over Amanda Cooper to lift The Ultimate Fighter 23 crown, as well as triumphs against Viviane Pereira, Alexa Grasso, as well as former UFC and Invicta FC strawweight best, Carla Esparza.

For 43-fight veteran, Modafferi — she looks to lodge her whopping 26th. professional victory against the undefeated, Suarez ahead of the projected September showdown. 

A nine-fight Octagon veteran, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt has bested the likes of Antonina Shevchenko, Andrea Lee — and back at UFC 246 in January of last year, scored a massive upset victory over Maycee Barber.
