A middleweight bout between former two-time title challenger, Yoel ‘Soldier Of God’ Romero, and resurgent striker, Uriah ‘Primetime’ Hall is currently targeted to feature at a UFC event in August. Although not official, the tie has been verbally agreed upon.

Olympic silver medalist, Romero last featured at UFC 248 in March – losing a forgettable unanimous decision against reigning division best, Israel Adesanya in a headlining bout. Hall, on the other hand, last featured at UFC Fight Night Vancouver back in September, taking a close split judging win over Antônio Carlos Júnior. News of the targeted matchup was initially penned by ESPN reporter, Ariel Helwani.

Romero, 43, has now dropped defeats in four of his last five Octagon outings, with his most recent win coming in a highlight-reel knockout of Luke Rockhold on short notice at UFC 221 in February of 2018. In defeats afterwards, the American Top Team staple has dropped razor-thin losses to former champion, Robert Whittaker, top-contender, Paulo ‘The Eraser’ Costa, and his uneventful tie with Adesanya earlier this annum.

With eleven separate career knockout wins, Romero has notched notable victories over former middleweight best, Chris Weidman, former light heavyweight champion, Lyoto Machida, as well as former Strikeforce 185-pound titleholder, Jacaré Souza.

TUF runner-up, Hall added ‘Shoeface’ Carlos Júnior to his résumé in his last Octagon walk, after a stunning knockout of Bevon Lewis at UFC 232 in December of 2018. After a second-round stoppage of Krzysztof Jotko, the Jamaican born striker dropped a final-frame knockout loss to the aforementioned Costa.

Hall was scheduled to meet with the above-noted, Jacaré at UFC 249 in Jacksonville, Florida – until their matchup was shelved after the Brazilian, and two of his cornermen tested positive for COVID-19, resulting in their subsequent removal from the event.
