A promising 154-pound boxer and a rising young junior middleweight prospect tragically passed away.
Travell Mazion, 24, was killed in a multi-victim car crash on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, in Austin, Texas. Travis County officials revealed one person dead and two others injured after a pin-in collision at the 18000 block of FM 1431 in the Austin suburb of Cedar Park. Mazion was just nine days away from his 25th birthday. His career ends with a perfect record of 17-0 (13KOs).
Golden Boy Promotions sent a statement to FightBook MMA: “We at Golden Boy are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Travell Mazion last night. Mazion was a kind, charismatic young man who lit up every room he walked into and brought excitement to fans inside the ring. We send our heartfelt prayers and thoughts to his family. May he rest in peace.”
Travell Mazion turned pro back in 2013 and scoring a first-round knockout in his hometown of Austin, TX. His most recent bout was a quick 58-second KO of Fernando Castañeda this past January at The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas winning the vacant WBC-NABF super welterweight title.
