Ronda Rousey signs with the WWE and made her debut at Royal Rumble (2018)

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Mon, January 29, 2018)– Royal Rumble 2018 took place on Sunday January 28, 2018 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Royal Rumble aired on pay-per-view and WWE Network event produced by WWE for the Raw and SmackDown brands.

For months there have been rumors circulating that she will have a career in pro wrestling, her nickname is “Rowdy” a homage to late WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. The rumors are true as Ronda Rousey has signed with WWE and made her WWE debut when she appeared as a surprise guest at this year’s Royal Rumble. This was the first ever women’s division Royal Rumble and that’s when Rousey appeared after Asuka won the match.

Check out the video below where Rousey confronts Asuka, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair. As she was in the middle of the ring, she pointed toward the sign of Wrestlemania possibly stating that she will be part of the pay-per-veiw in April.

Rousey told of her decision to join WWE:

This is my life now. First priority on my timeline for the next several years. This is not a smash-and-grab; this is not a publicity stunt. When I first met with Triple H, I told him, There are other things I can do with my time that’ll make way more money, but I won’t enjoy nearly as much.

Ronda had her last fight at UFC 207 which took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Friday December 30, 2016. The main card aired on pay-per-view while the prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass. Ronda lost via TKO to current champion Amanda Nunes in Round 1 at the 0:48 mark. After her loss, she never officially announced that she retired from MMA.
