Former two-time light heavyweight title challenger, Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson, has outlined his interests over the previous six months to return to active-competition with the UFC in April this year – but in a cryptic tweet from his official Twitter account, the prolific knockout artist shared a link to March’s UFC 248 card.

The Georgia native announced his retirement from professional mixed-martial-arts back in 2016 – following a second defeat to former light heavyweight and heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier at UFC 210 in New York. The 35-year-old has spoken of his intentions to possibly make a heavyweight debut in the Ultimate Fighting Championship upon his expected return, but also outlined how he would take a test weight-cut to 205-pounds as he attempts to finally meet with current division champion, Jon ‘Bones’ Jones.

Johnson was originally scheduled to meet with Jones at UFC 187 – until a hit-and-run incident involving Albuquerque’s Jones resulted in the look-see-do fighter stripping as light heavyweight king. Johnson would go on lose to Cormier at the event via a third-round rear-naked choke. From his official Twitter, Johnson simply tweeted; “UFC 248 at T-Mobile Arena” followed by a link to the UFC’s official page for the event card. During his time away from the Octagon – Johnson began power-lifting, and also launched his own CBD oil company.

In terms of potential opponents for a heavyweight debut – Johnson has teased matchups with former division champion, Junior dos Santos, and all-time heavyweight great, Alistair Overeem. Brazil’s dos Santos returns to the Octagon this weekend in the main event of UFC Fight Night Raleigh as he takes on punishing wrestler, Curtis Blaydes. Overeem, on the other hand, suffered a brutal final round knockout defeat to Jairzinho Rozenstriuk in his headlining bout at UFC Fight Night D.C. in December. The Dutch kickboxer required plastic surgery to repair an injured upper-lip after a right hand from Suriname’s Rozenstriuk.
