Ryan Couture sits down with FightBook MMA before he heads out to Israel to fight at Bellator 209
Next weekend, November 16th, Bellator MMA will bring you Bellator 209 live from Tel Avivr, Israel. The featured Co-main event of the evening will be a rematch from 2017 between Ryan Couture and Israel’s own Haim Gonzali.
Ryan Couture recently took some time to speak with us here at FightBook MMA about the upcoming bout.
Looking to continue building on his own credentials Ryan states:
“I feel like I’ve established enough of a body work on my own that’s at least as interesting, if not more so then always talking about the “old man” .” (His father and MMA legend Randy Couture)
Ryan’s last fight was an unfortunate first round tko loss to Saad Awad at Bellator 201 in a catchweight bout back in June. Reflecting back on that fight Ryan is determined to correct some mistakes saying:
“This is a game of inches, making poor mistakes at this level will cost you big time. I just gotta learn from them and do better next time.”
Moving forward to Bellator 209’s rematch with Gonzali, Ryan looks forward to traveling to Israel but will not take it lightly stating:
“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to go see Israel, but the long trip and time change puts some wrinkles in the process of preparing and being ready to preform.”
Speaking on his previous victory over Gonzali, Ryan is looking for a similar outcome:
“I definitely see another win for myself, hopefully with a more decisive outcome.”
When asked for his prediction to the fight Ryan confidently states:
“I’m looking for the stoppage, I’m looking to get him outta there.”
Ryan currently competes in both Bellator’s lightweight (155lbs) and welterweight (170lbs) divisions. When asked what weight he prefers Ryan says:
“I feel more comfortable at lightweight but the weight cut is obviously no fun.”
Being the competitor he is, Ryan says he enjoys the opportunities he’s been given to fight at multiple weight classes:
“All the recent opportunities have been great and worth taking, even if it’s not at my more natural weight class” Ryan said.
Looking forward to a positive future, Ryan remains humble saying:
“Its up to Bellator on what opportunities are next for me.”
We here at FightBook MMA want to thank Ryan Couture for taking the time to speak with us and wish well in this upcoming bout.
You can catch Ryan in action live on the Paramount Network Friday November 16th. Prelims begin at 7pm EST followed by the main card at 9pm EST.
Till next time fight fans,
