Sosa to Defend Against Pedroza in Battle of Unbeaten Super Bantamweights in Panama City Tonight!

Tonight, April 29, 2022, unbeaten WBC Super Bantamweight Silver Champion Andrés Sosa of Argentina will defend his title for the first time against also undefeated Panamanian Rafael Pedroza in the 10-round main event of a night of world-class boxing, presented by Sampson Boxing in association with Best Box at the Vasco Núñez de Balboa Convention Center in the Hotel El Panama in Panama City. The event will be televised live on TyC Sports and TyC Sports Play at 10 pm CST.

The WBA #9-ranked Pedroza (12-0, 11 KOs) now living in El Martillo, Panama, will be looking to annex the crown Sosa (13-0, 8 KOs) won with a unanimous decision over his Argentinean countryman Mauro Barrios last February.

Also appearing in televised matchups will be undefeated Panamanian Alexander Durán (20-0, 7 KOs) taking on Ecuadorian Edwin Bennett (15-2, 7 KOs), in a super lightweight eight-rounder; Panamanian local Ronal Batista (13-2, 8 KOs) will face undefeated Ramses Perez (8-0, 2 KOs) of Mexico City in a super flyweight eight-rounder; Venezuelan super lightweight knockout artist Roiman Villa (22-1, 22 KOs) will face Peruvian veteran Jesús Bravo (19-5-1, 17 KOs) over eight rounds and in the bantamweight division, Panamanian Edgar Valencia (14-5-1, 3 KOs) will clash against Mexico’s Luis Robles Pacheco (14-1, 4 KOs) in the eight-round opening bout of the telecast.

On the untelevised undercard will be a duel of Panamanians in the super lightweight division, Juan Huertas (14-3-1, 10 KOs) will face Fernando De La Rosa (5-2-1, 3 KOs) over six and in a crossroads welterweight battle to open the night, Alcibíades Ballesteros (0-1-1) will take on Ricardo Rodríguez (1-6-1) over four rounds.
