Superlek Destroys Tagir Khalilov To Win Via TKO In Second Round At ONE Fight Night 12

Bangkok, Thailand: ONE Championship™ (ONE) returned to the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium with ONE Fight Night 12: Superlek vs. Khalilov.

In the main event, ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 defended his #1 flyweight Muay Thai ranking with a sensational second-round TKO of Russian rising star Tagir Khalilov.

Right from the opening bell, Superlek asserted his dominance by landing powerful elbows and devastating kicks, keeping Khalilov on the defensive. As “Samingpri” struggled to find an answer, Superlek seamlessly mixed up his combinations and maintained a high pace throughout the bout.

Sensing an opportunity to wrap it up in round two, the Thai megastar intensified his assault, pressing forward and launching a series of powerful strikes. And recognizing the severe damage Khalilov had sustained, the referee quickly stepped in and called a halt to the action.

In the co-main event, former ONE Featherweight World Title challenger and #2-ranked contender Garry Tonon showed his resilience in thwarting the wrestling-heavy offense of #5-ranked Shamil Gasanov to score a second-round submission.

The previously unbeaten Gasanov wasted no time in aggressively shooting for takedowns while battering his opponent with various ground strikes. However, Tonon maintained his composure and found a way to turn the tide in the second round. With exceptional technical precision, the American BJJ legend swiftly transitioned into a knee bar, forcing the Russian to tap.

Elsewhere on the card, Iranian heavyweight powerhouse Amir Aliakbari prevailed over Dustin Joynson, forcing the Canadian to tap out due to strikes. Meanwhile, Thai phenom Phetjeeja made quick work of former ONE World Title challenger Lara Fernandez, finishing the Spanish striker in just 26 seconds via TKO.
