Taura MMA signs two former UFC fighters, Amanda Ribas’ sibling
Always looking to strengthen its roster, Taura MMA inked a deal with two more former UFC fighters: middleweight Márcio Alexandre ‘Lyoto’ and bantamweight Elizabeth Philips. Also, the Brazilian organization announced that will hold the comeback fight of Amanda Ribas’ sibling Arthur Ribas.
‘Lyoto’ (17-5) stood out at ‘TUF: Brasil 3’, in which he defeated Paulo Costa by unanimous decision. To this day, that is ‘The Eraser’s lone loss inside a cage. In UFC, Márcio faced Warlley Alves, Tim Means and Court McGee, winning eight of his ten fights after leaving the octagon – including a first-round submission at ‘Contender Series’.
Philips (7-7) is one of the many foreign fighters that the Brazilian promotion will announce this month. She is a true warrior inside the cage and brings a lot of experience, toughness and heart to Taura. In the past, the 34-year-old had action-packed fights against great athletes such as Valérie Létourneau, Milana Dudieva, Jessamyn Duke e Raquel Pennington. MMA fans can’t wait.
Taura also added Carol Yariwake (9-3) and Karine ‘Japa’ (1-2), to its women’s flyweight division, and Arthur Ribas to its welterweight division. Ribas (5-1) fought for the last time in 2015, but decided to give it another try after being in the gym with Amanda’s training partners.
