Taura MMA signs Viscardi Andrade; promotional debut is set
Taura MMA announced today that it has signed Viscardi Andrade to an exclusive, multi-fight deal. An estabilished star in MMA, the 36-year-old had a 3-1 stint in UFC between 2013 and 2016 and is looking forward to compete again at the highest level.
Fighting out of São Paulo, the middleweight fighter will make his Taura debut on October 23, in Canoas (Brazil), facing an opponent to be determined. The card will be headlined by Felipe Gheno vs UFC-vet Bruno ‘Korea’, for the flyweight title. In the co-main event, Yasmin Castanho will defend her strawweight crown against Bruna Vargas. Also, bantamweight champion Douglas ‘He Man’ puts his belt on the line versus Gian Sarturi.
Since may 2019, Andrade is 100-percent focused on his gym in São Paulo. But he could not stand to be away from the cage any longer, so Taura invited him right on cue.
“I’m very excited, because it’s a brand new challenge. I haven’t fought for 15 months. I fought in the main event at RCC 6, in Russia, I lost at the end of the third round, but it was very good, because I was busy, I was fighting. It’s awful not to fight for so long, so I’m glad for this opportunity at Taura MMA. We are eight weeks away from the fight, so I have time to be fit to fight at my best level. My expectation is the best possible”, the middleweight said.
Andrade has compiled a 20-7 record as a professional MMA fighter, with 13 of his 20 victories coming by way of knockout or submission. Viscardi was also a competitor in the second ‘The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil’, in 2013.
