Welterweight Cian Cowley has been signed by Brave Combat Federation and will make his promotional debut at the organization’s first trip to Europe, for Brave 13: Euro Evolution, set for June 9th, in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The SBG Ireland product will take on Daniel Olejniczak.
Cowley will be in search of his first professional MMA win after a loss in his debut. He’s a multiple time Irish muay Thai champion and has recently switched over to MMA. His head coach John Kavanagh describes Cowley’s style as “beautiful blend of boxing and subtle technical Thai boxing”. He’s 3-1 as an amateur, including wins in the 2016 IMMAF World Championships.
The Irishman became the subject of media attention after an incident in which he and teammate Conor McGregor attacked a bus outside Barclays Center, in Brooklyn. They ended up in jail but were released on bail and are awaiting their trial.
Olejniczak, meanwhile, looks to for his second MMA win, after three fights – he has a record of one victory, one defeat, and one draw. However, the Polish athlete has gone undefeated as an amateur, racking up four straight wins before turning professional. He last fought in July 2017, where he lost his first-ever MMA contest.
Brave 13: Euro Evolution will be held at The SSE Arena, in Belfast. The main event will be a rematch for the Bantamweight title as current champion Stephen Loman tries to go 2-0 against challenger Frans Mlambo. The co-main event is set for a Catchweight of 73 kg between former UFC fighter Norman Parke and Myles Price.
