Travis Fulton, an MMA fighter with a 23-year-career, was arrested on February 21, 2021, in Iowa on charges of sexual exploitation of a child, possession of child pornography, and receipt of child pornography. If convicted, Fulton faces up to 70-years in prison.
The charges stem after Fulton was accused of purposefully taking and possessing sexually explicit and pornographic images of a child under 12 years old. The actions allegedly occurred between November 2018 and November 2019.
The 43-year-old Fulton is the father of one daughter. Fulton was awaiting trial for domestic assault charges at the time of his arrest. In 2019, Fulton was accused of hitting a woman, injuring her palate, nose, and jaw. He also threatened to kill the woman if she told police.
Fulton was arrested on January 23 for breaking an order of protection when witnesses saw the pair together at a hotel in Waterloo, IA.
Fulton fought more than 300 times during his professional career, more than any other MMA fighter. He also holds the record for the most wins in MMA history at 255. Most of the fights took place in smaller venues, although he did appear in the WEC and made two appearances in the UFC. Fulton last fought in April 2019.
Fulton’s arrest comes just one month after UFC fighter Irwin Rivera was arrested on two charges of attempted murder in January.
Boyton Beach Police found sisters, one 22 and the other 33, with multiple stab wounds after being called to the residence. The 22-year-old woman had stab wounds in her head, back, and arm. The older woman had stab wounds on her face, arms, hands, and back. She also sustained two collapsed lungs as a result of the attack.
Rivera fled the scene, but police found him the following morning. Police say Rivera confessed to the crime, stating ‘I killed my sisters.’ It is also reported that Rivera told police that he believed he had killed his sisters because he was told to do so by a “higher power.”
Rivera faces life in prison if convicted of the charges.
