UFC 223 Countdown: Rose Namajunas vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk
Brooklyn, N.Y. (Sat, April 7, 2018)– UFC 223 will take place on Saturday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The main card will air on pay-per-view while the prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
With the recent change in the main event, the promotion doesn’t have a main event “Countdown” but they do have the co-main event and is one you don’t want to miss. Below you can watch the full episode for “UFC 223 Countdown: Rose Namajunas vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk.”
On April 1st FightBookMMA reported that Tony Ferguson was forced to withdraw from the main event due to a knee injury.
The promotion stated earlier this week that Khabib Nurmagomedov (25-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) was going to take on Max Holloway (19-3 MMA, 15-3 UFC) for the undisputed lightweight title. The New York State Athletic Commission deemed Holloway as medically unfit to compete on the card during the weigh-ins.
After attempts to fill Tony Ferguson’s spot against Khabib Nurmagomedov, the UFC has finally found a replacement fight. After a long morning of confusion, Al Iaquinta (13-3-1 MMA, 8-2 UFC) will step up to face Khabib in the UFC 223 main-event. Iaquinta weighed in at 155.2lbs, ruling him out of the opportunity to become the Lightweight champion if he can beat Khabib. If Nurmagomedov is victorious, he will be crowned the new champion, and Conor McGregor will officially be stripped of his gold.
White did state during the press conference that Al Iaquinta will be eligible to fight for the undisputed title on Saturday against Khabib Nurmagomedov (25-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC).
Dana White states:
“The title is on the line……As far as the commission goes, Khabib is the one that’s eligible for the title. But obviously, if ‘Ragin’ Al wins this fight, he’s the champ….If you beat the man, you are the man.”
Max sent a message to Khabib:
. @TeamKhabib my brother I want to keep going but they are stopping me. Sorry to your team and the fans. You don’t deserve this. This is number one. Shout outs to you and @Showtimepettis . Give the fans what they deserve

UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas will put her title on the line against the very same woman she defeated to be the champ in Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 217. Can Joanna Jedrzejczyk win her title back at UFC 223? Jedrzejczyk as successful as she has been in her career is her ability to throw more strikes than her opponents. She wasn’t able to get as many of those strikes as she struggled with health issues as a result of her weight cut leading up to the fight. We will know the answer come Saturday.
Many betting sites like NetBet have the best betting odds in UK and they predict Khabib Nurmagomedov as a -705 favorite and as far as Al Iaquinta he stands at +570 as the underdog. Can Rose get the job done once again? Well you’ll want to take that bet as the lines currently have the champ as the underdog with that being said Joanna Jedrzejczyk stands at -110 and Rose Namajunas at +100.
