UFC 228: Woodley vs. Till official results, bonuses and Reebok Sponsorship Payout
UFC 228 took place at American Airlines Arena in Dallas. The main card aired on pay-per-view while the prelims on FX and the early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.
The event drew an announced attendance of 14,073 fans for a live gate of $1,714,556.08.
UFC officials announced the figures following the event.
In the main event, Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley (19-3-1 MMA, 9-2-1 UFC) dominanted Darren Till (17-1-1 MMA, 5-1-1 UFC). During the second round Woodley was able to take Till down and started working his ground and pound. He started landing punches and elbows from the top. At one point during the round, Till gave Woodley the opening and took advantage and sunk in a submission (D’Arce choke) win at the 4:19 mark to defend welterweight title.
In the co-main event, Jessica Andrade (19-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) took on Karolina Kowalkiewicz (12-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC). In the first round Andrade came in quick throwing punches that connected and staggered Karolina. Andrade landed a right hand and connected a left hand while Karolina was dropping to the canvas. Andrade walked away defeating her at the 1:58 mark.
Tyron Woodley, Jessica Andrade, Irene Aldana and Lucie Pudilova each earned $50k bonuses. Aldana and Pudilova earned “Fight of the Night,” while Woodley and Andrade each won “Performance of the Night.” UFC officials announced the winners following the event.
Fighters took home their Reebok Sponsorship Payout totaling $220,000. Coming in first place was Tyron Woodley taking home $40,000. Coming in second place was Darren Till taking home $30,000. Fighters with 1-3 bouts receive $3,500 per appearance; 4-10 bouts get $5,000; 11-15 bouts earn $10,000; 16-20 bouts pocket $15,000; and 21 bouts and more get $20,000. Additionally, champions earn $40,000 while title challengers get $30,000. Also, UFC fighters will receive in perpetuity royalty payments amounting to 20-30 percent of any UFC merchandise sold that bears their likeness, according to officials.
