Russian UFC fighter Liana Jojua told Metaratings about the reasons for the breakdown of her fight with Courtney Casey, which was supposed to take place on August 21 at UFC on ESPN 29 in Las Vegas.
“Unfortunately, the fight has been postponed. It will definitely take place, but I cannot give a date yet. I went through a big training camp, was completely ready for the fight, but did not manage to get a work visa to the United States. I hope that clarity will come soon,” said Liana.
Jojua, 26, fought her last fight in October last year at UFC 254, losing to Miranda Maverick by TKO in the first round. In July 2020, at UFC on ESPN 13, she defeated Diana Belbita by submission (elbow lever) in the first round. She made her debut under the UFC She-Wolf banner in September 2019 at UFC 242, losing to Sarah Moras by TKO in the third round. She has eight victories and four defeats.
Casey, 34, is currently on a two-losing streak. In March of this year at UFC Fight Night 187, she lost to JJ Aldrich by split decision. In June 2020, at UFC on ESPN 11, Courtney lost to Jilliana Robertson by submission (rear-naked choke) in the third round. She has nine victories and nine defeats.
