Iraqi newcomer Hussein Salem had to squeeze himself through the eye of a needle to come out on top of his promotional debut at BRAVE CF 48: ARABIAN NIGHT, which took place at the historic Arad Fort in Bahrain on Thursday, March 18.
It was a baptism by fire for Salem as Brazilian opponent Gerson Pereira appeared to be in full control of the action after scoring a takedown in the first round and then negated both of his advantages in terms of length and toe-to-toe exchanges with a pressuring top control.
However, tables were turned in the second round when Salem staggered Pereira with a series of crisp strikes as his counterpart was looking to bring matters to the ground. With the Brazilian on wobbly legs, the Iraqi standout closed the show behind a flurry of hard blows that forced the referee to halt the contest at the 3:35 mark.
Salem improved his professional record to 7-3 with the sensational victory, while Pereira dropped to a 12-9 standing.
