The UFC has never been more exciting. The number of top-ranked fighters on the roster is simply unbelievable and each Fight Night and UFC event is worth watching from the prelims to the main card. 2021 has been filled with numerous excitements and we saw some of the most unexpected things happening, but that is the beauty of this sport; you never know what you can expect.
Halfway through the year and it seems like there is so much that can happen in any division. With that being said, we wanted to take a look at some fighters that have a lot of potential and are serious contenders to the throne. They got what it takes to become champions by the end of the year. Without any further ado, let’s check them out.
Bobby Knuckles is without a doubt one of the fiercest fighters in the middleweight divisions. After losing his belt to Israel Adesanya, he’s been on an incredible streak as he dominated Darren Till, Jared Cannonier, and Kelvin Gastelum. Just a reminder, his loss against Israel was in 2019.
Israel was supposed to fight Robert this summer, but Bobby stated that the turnaround after the fight with Gastelum is too quick and it is impossible for him to make the camp. That is why Israel vs Marvin Vettori 2 was booked and Robert will be fighting the winner of those two by the end of 2021. Hence, he is more than likely to win over the belt again.
Jon Jones is one of the biggest favourites to be the heavyweight champion by the end of the year by most online bookmakers. Online bookmakers such as BetRivers made it possible for fans to bet on Jon Jones as the next champion. And many people choose this online bookmaker thanks to the numerous great features that it has. The review of BetRivers PA will tell you just how superior it is.
The interesting thing about Jon Jones is that he’s never fought in the heavyweight division. Although Jones has a complicated relationship with the UFC and he has been taking a break for over a year due to the fact that he wants a bigger paycheck, there’s no denying the fact that he deserves it as he is one of the greatest in history. Since Derrick Lewis will likely be challenging Francis Ngannou next, it is likely that we will see Jon fighting with the winner for the belt.
Conor’s long-awaited comeback was cut by Dustin Poirer back in January. But, these two will headline a rematch on July 12th and the bout will be nothing short but amazing. The Notorious stated that he made adjustments and abandoned the boxing stance which cost him the second bout against Poirer and he is very likely to beat him.
Dana White stated that the winner of Conor-Dustin 3 will be challenging Charles Oliviera for the belt next. Not only that, but Charles will likely defend his belt against the winner of these two by the end of the year.
Finally, we have the most merciless fighter on the roster. Petr Yan was DQ’d against Aljamain Sterling after he hit him with what appeared to be an illegal knee and thus, lost the belt. But, the Russian will likely get his rematch against Aljamain Sterling.
Since Petr dominated Aljamain in the first bout, until he hit him with the knee, the chances of him winning the rematch are high as Petr is one of the most dominant fighters in the bantamweight division. Although there is no exact information about the bout, reports state that Dana and the team are trying to make it happen by the end of the year.
