As a professional fighter, you have little time for extracurricular activities during fight season. House upkeep is probably one of the farthest things from your mind at this time of the year. If you want to keep your home organized but just cannot seem to fit it into your schedule, follow these six tips to keep your home in order while you are away.
1. Install a Watering System
Even when you are not traveling for fight season, it can be difficult finding time to go outside and water your lawn every day. This is especially true if you live in a hot climate since the lawn requires extra water in the heat.
Instead of trying to squeeze in time to water your grass and bushes every day, install a water system. Sprinklers are placed throughout your front and back yard and are managed with a touch of a button from your smartphone. Just be sure to research when to stop watering lawn so you do not over or under hydrate your grass as the seasons change.
2. Hire Lawn Care Experts
If you have an elaborate yard with lots of trees, flowers, bushes and grass, it is probably beneficial to hire professionals to help maintain the yard while you are away. They ensure your yard is kept in tip-top condition while you are gone. Plants are watered and trimmed, grass is cut and weeds are pulled.
Even if you do not have an extensive lot, lawn care experts are still beneficial for basic upkeep. It is simply one more thing that you do not have to worry about.
3. Pick Up Before Your Leave
While you probably do not have time for a thorough cleaning before you leave for a fight, a quick tidying session can do wonders to keep your house organized. Try to tackle some little jobs before you leave, such as picking up stuff off the floors, clearing off the table and loading the dirty dishes in the dishwasher. This way when you come home, you will not be met with a bunch of messes all around the house.
4. Use Grocery Services
Your hectic fight schedule probably leaves you with little time to grocery shop. Meal services can be a lifesaver when you want to eat healthily but struggle to find the time to shop or cook.
If you want as little prep time as possible, sign up for a meal delivery service. There are a variety of options available at different price points and for specific diets. Some of these companies send you pre-measured ingredients and a recipe to create a delicious meal at home. Others send you the meal completely finished; all you have to do is heat it up.
If you enjoy a little more creativity in the kitchen, utilize grocery delivery services. Many grocery stores have an option for your to pick out your ingredients online, including hygiene products like toilet paper, shampoo and toothpaste. You add your items to the online cart and the store delivers everything to your door.
5. Loop in Neighbors
Having a set of eyes on your house while away provides reassurance that if something goes wrong, you will know about it. Talk to your neighbors before you leave and ask if they can keep watch over your house and let you know if something strange happens.
6. Book a Cleaning Service
It can be difficult finding time to complete basic chores around your house, let alone deep clean. Hire a cleaning service to take care of these tasks. Cleaning services handle a variety of jobs, such as vacuuming, making beds, cleaning bathrooms, scrubbing walls and washing curtains. Having them come on a regular basis helps ensure your home stays tidy during this chaotic season.
You want to devote as much of your time and energy to competition during fight season. Start researching these tips so when the next season rolls around, you can rest assured your home is taken care of while you are away.
