A new KSW lightweight champion will be crowned at KSW 57 on December 19. Polish stars Marian Ziolkowski (21-8-1) and Roman Szymanski (13-5) will compete for the title left vacated by Mateusz Gamrot.
Ziolkowski was Gamrot’s last challenger and provided the former KSW champ one of his toughest tests ever in KSW pushing him five rounds.
Known as the ‘Golden Boy’, Ziolkowski joined KSW in 2018 after securing seventeen of his nineteen wins by way of TKO and Submission. Prior to facing Gamrot he had two impressive wins over former title challenger Grzegorz Szulakowski and power-puncher Gracjan Szadzinski.
Roman Szymanski joined KSW in 2016 and has become a huge fan favourite in Poland. After a 3-1 run he faced Salahdine Parnasse for the interim KSW featherweight title. A loss here prompted the 28-year-old to step back up to lightweight where he has since scored back to back wins over Balkan duo Milos Janicic and Filip Pejic, respectively.
Both fighters have met once before on the Polish scene with Szymansk walking away with a unanimous decision victory. Almost five years have passed since their first contest, now they meet once again but only one will realise their dream to become KSW champion.
Also announced this week for KSW 57 is a huge all-Polish clash between former KSW featherweight champion Artur Sowinski (21-11) and former long-time KSW welterweight champion Borys Mankowski (20-8-1). They meet in what is an important clash in the lightweight division.
KSW 57 takes place December 19 live around the world from Lodz, Poland, on www.KSWTV.com.
