Seef District, Bahrain – The year of 2020 was definitely one of many challenges and obstacles to be overcome but that doesn’t mean that new and talented athletes didn’t find a way to stand out from the pack.
As we look back to the 12 events held by BRAVE Combat Federation during the current year, the truly global MMA promotion announced the five nominees to the “Breakout Fighter of the Year” award, as part of the BRAVE CF 2020 Year of Change Awards.
The first one is France’s Benoit St. Denis, the undefeated Welterweight who got two stoppage victories in 2020. First, back in January, “God of War” submitted Ivica Trušček at BRAVE CF 34. Later, at BRAVE CF 38, he knocked out Mario Saeed.
The second nominee is, arguably, the most coveted prospect in Mixed Martial Arts right now, Muhammad Mokaev. Undefeated in his amateur career of 22 bouts, Mokaev won his two pro bouts under the BRAVE CF banner, at BRAVE CF 37 and 43.
Another undefeated member of the shortlist is Austria’s Mochamed Machaev. With a 10-0 professional record, “The Beast”, as he’s also known as, got a staggering three BRAVE CF wins in 2020, over Matjaž Vičar, Ciprian Mariș, and Shoaib Yousaf.
The third member of the “unbeaten club” to join the nominees is Sweden’s Anton Turkalj. With six wins in six pro fights, Turkalj made his BRAVE CF debut with a TKO win over Athanasios Herkeletzis and, only 23 days later, submitted Ibo Aslan.
Lastly, but not least, is South Africa’s Nkosi Ndebele. Considered the most promising rising star out of the African continent, “King” made waves in the MMA community with his first-round knockout over Zia Mashwani at BRAVE CF 45.
The 2020 Breakout Fighter of the Year will be announced based on the results from the fans who cast their votes at BRAVE CF’s official Instagram account (www.instagram.com/bravemmaf).
