Guilherme “Poeta” Neves has spent thousands of hours on the mats in academies around the world. And the long-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt is just getting warmed up.
Neves hunts for his third professional MMA victory against fast-rising James Hay at CES 62 on April 30 in Orlando, LIVE on UFC Fight Pass.
“I love the adrenaline rush when you step in the gym, and the tranquility that comes with being on the mat,” Neves says. “Fight night is really special for me; it’s a great opportunity to test myself in the heat of the battle.”
Neves is known primarily for his grappling, but the Brazilian-American contender says his striking will be on full display in Orlando.
“People don’t realize it, but I’ve got really good striking too,” Neves says, smiling. “I’m going to use my jiu-jitsu, but only as a means to finish the fight.”
