Josh Warrington “the Leeds Warrior” will be fighting Mauricio Lara in a rematch on September 4th. The fight will take place at Emerald Headingley Stadium in Leeds, England. It will be the first time that Lara and Warrington compete at the stadium at 21:00 GMT (17.00 ET).
Warrington’s only loss (30-1-0) was to Lara (22-2-0) back in February earlier this year. Warrington was originally predicted to have an easy win against Lara.
Lara didn’t hold any International titles and only had one match outside of Mexico with has a couple of losses on his record.
Whereas Warrington was undefeated, ranked as the world’s best featherweight, had held the featherweight title on regional, European and International levels. Despite being the clear underdog Lara ended up winning by TKO in the 9th round.
Lara is now ranked as the World’s second best active featherweight Transnational Boxing Rankings Board, whereas Warrington is ranked at #8.
This rematch could be Warrington’s chance for revenge and to rectify his only defeat.
