São Paulo, Brazil – Things started to heat up ahead of the upcoming BRAVE CF 51: The Future Is Here main event between Lucas “Mineiro” Martins and Marcel Grabinski. In a recent interview, the German star stated that this would be Mineiro’s “last chance”, due to his current two-loss streak, with his opponent’s last bout having taken place almost two years ago. They face off on June 4th, in Minsk, Belarus.
But the former BRAVE CF Lightweight world champion believes the pressure will be instead across the cage. Lucas believes his stance in the MMA world as a former titleholder, as well as the level of his previous opponents will give him an immense advantage over Marcel.
“I’m under pressure because I’m coming off two losses but for him it’s a much bigger pressure, because he’s fighting Lucas Mineiro. When he sees me across the cage, he will know who I am”, Mineiro said during an Instagram Live interview. “When he sees me in front of him, he’ll see everything I’ve trained for, everything I’ve achieved in this sport and he will feel the pressure”.
Mineiro actually has two professional fights less than Grabinski but, while the Brazilian has been competing in the highest level for nearly a decade now, his German counterpart has just recently had his international breakthrough at BRAVE Combat Federation. The difference of international experience, Lucas believes, will play an important role on the June 4th bout.
“He’s never gone through what I did. He’s never fought the fighters that I fought. He’s never done what I’ve done in the sport. Thus, he doesn’t have the same mindset that I have”, he stated.
Finally, ”Mineiro” believes he holds the edge over Grabinski in all areas of mixed martial arts – something that Marcel also boasted.
”He’s a great athlete, very complete, but if he strikes with me he will get knocked out, if he tries to do jiu-jitsu with me, I will submit him. And if he tries to wrestle with me, I will take him down”.
BRAVE CF 51: The Future Is Here will mark the first time the fastest-growing MMA organization in the world lands in Belarus, with the Eastern European country becoming the 22nd nation to host a BRAVE CF event.
