CageSport 58 to feature two championship fights

TACOMA, Wash.: Two titles will be up for grabs when CageSport MMA returns to the Emerald Queen Casino.

CageSport 58 will see the crowning of a new light heavyweight champion as well as a new featherweight king pin on Aug. 10 at the Tacoma venue.

In the co-main events, Sua Tuani will face undefeated Jay Radick for the vacant CageSport 205-pound crown, while Talon Hammons, who also brings in an unblemished record, squares off against streaking Kevin Boehm for the vacant 145-pound championship.

“This is as good, if not better, than any co-main event we’ve ever had in 11 years of CageSport,” promoter Brian Halquist said. “I’m not sure which title fight I’m most looking forward to. Radick is an incredible athlete who is undefeated and Tuani possesses the power to KO anyone with one punch at anytime. Talon is one of the most promising young featherweights around, while Kevin has been on a tear. All four fighters are worthy of being CageSport champions.”

The two 5-round title fights will headline the nine-bout card.

Tickets are available through the EQC box office and all Ticketmaster Outlets. Preliminary bouts willstart at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Tuani (3-3) is no stranger to wearing CageSport gold around his waist as the hard-hitting fighter captured the organization’s heavyweight title at CageSport 54 with a vicious knockout of title holder Richard Foster.

A natural light heavyweight, Tuani will now look to become a champion in two weight divisions, but will have to get by Radick, who enters the contest with a spotless 2-0 record.

A native of Seattle who now fights out of Philadelphia, Radick has been nothing short of spectacular in his two career bouts. Radick has put away his opponents in the first round in both contests, last defeating AJ Weber by KO at CageSport 53.

Hammons has had a similar story during the early stages of his pro career. He notched his fourth consecutive triumph on Dec. 15 with a second-round stoppage of Boehm in a match that wasn’t without controversy.

The fight was stopped at the 3:59 mark of the second round due to verbal tapout. Confusion followed as Boehm protested, stating he never asked for the bout to end.

Boehm, who is coming off a first-round KO victory over Jason Gray at CageSport 57, will get his chance at a rematch against Hammons, but this time a title will be at stake.

In addition to the two title fights, CageSport 58 will also feature a 156-pound bout between Chris Stone and Charon Spain and a 171-pound contest between Cameron Sevilla-Rivera and Tobias Baker.
