Gennady Golovkin and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez gave fans two memorable matches in the past. While the first ended in a draw, Alvarez won the second via a unanimous decision a year later. Several discussions regarding a trilogy surfaced numerous times in the past, although nothing ever came of it in the last two years.
Commenting on the probability of the two stalwarts meeting again inside the ring, Alvarez says he’ll knock out GGG to put an exhilarating end to their emphatic rivalry. “I don’t have to prove my point to anyone. I’ve already beaten him twice and at 168 if he wants to move ahead, we’ll see what happens if that’s what the fans desire. I’m at 168 and I don’t need to prove anything to anyone. My goal is to unify here”, Canelo revealed during an interview with The Ring.
“I feel good and strong right now like I’m at the peak of my form and I plan to continue working hard. If a fight with GGG is scheduled in the immediate future, I feel I will knock him out and do some serious damage”, Alvarez added.
Can Alvarez be the First Person in History to Knock Out Golovkin?
If Alvarez manages to achieve the feat, he will be the first fighter in history to knock out GGG, who has a single defeat to his name, courtesy of Alvarez. With that being said, in the first two bouts against Canelo, Golovkin survived more than a few hard shots, which knocked out several stalwarts in the past. So, we can safely bet on GGG’s strong chin across gambling platforms all around the world, even at the online casinos in Latvia.
Alvarez is fresh off a win over Callum Smith in December and is expected to take on Avini Yildirim next in February in Mexico. Anyone else excited about the fight between these two legends?
