He’s currently ranked #4 and is getting the opportunity to fight the #1 contender James Hairston for the vacant CFC Welterweight Championship on March 7th at CFC 8. FightBook MMA caught up with Ivan to talk about his fight and possible rematches.
Ivan it is great to get to speak with you before your title fight at CFC 8. How has training been going for you with the biggest fight of your career coming up?
It’s definitely the biggest fight in my career. Camp is going well, I’ll be at me best for this fight.
March 7th you are facing the number 1 ranked welterweight in the CFC. Have you seen him fight previously and what do you think about his ability?
I seen him fight before and I believe he’s a very strong opponent with a solid ground game it be fun to test my self against him.
You have a loss to fellow CFC fighter Alex Nuanez, do you have any plans of getting a rematch with him possibly later this year?
Definitely, nothing but respect for Alex, he’s a heck of a fighter and I would love to face him again. I believe that with the proper camp I can change the outcome of a rematch.
CFC has proven to be the fastest-growing MMA organization in Tennessee, how would it feel to be the welterweight champion there for such a raising organization?
It’s a huge honor just to get in that cage much more to be a champ. I’ll do my very best that’s for sure.
Ivan, where do you currently train and do you have anyone you would like to thank before we close out this interview?
I train at Florencebjj, I wanna thank my teammates and my family for the support and huge thanks to Jonathan Ivy and his team for the opportunity.
