Champion Lucas “Mineiro” ready for ‘whatever Brave wants’
Lucas “Mineiro” Martins became Brave world champion with a stunning TKO over rising prospect Luan “Miau” Santiago at Brave 11. A couple of weeks after the historical title fight, the former UFC fighter and now interim Lightweight champion for Brave Combat Federation is already looking forward to his next challenge.
For “Mineiro”, his victory was a crowning achievement after so many hurdles in his Brave career – after winning his debut back at Brave 3, the Brazilian was injured and couldn’t challenge Elias Boudegzdame’s Featherweight title, and when the fight was finally announced, Martins ended up ill during the weight cut and was forced to withdraw.
“It was a unique sensation finally winning the Brave title. I’ve been blessed with this win and this belt and I’m ready to represent Brave as a world champion very well. I’m ready for whatever Brave throws at me next. The weight cut was very smooth, as I didn’t need to cut too much, I felt very good as a Lightweight, but let’s wait on the future”, said the champion.
On his battle with personal friend “Miau”, Lucas had nothing but praise for his former opponent and tips Santiago to make an instant impact following his first Brave loss.
“I was expecting a very tough fight with my friend Luan “Miau” and we delivered an awesome fight. I hope he recovers quickly, as he’s a fantastic person and a great fighter. He deserves to be among the best and he’ll be there soon enough”, guarantees “Mineiro”, who feels “honored” with the claims that his fight with “Miau” was one of the best-ever inside the Brave cage.
“This is what we work for. I feel very honored to be able to say that I made history for Brave and with a friend of mine, too. Brave is one of the biggest events out there right now and that makes me proud too”.
