Datrelle Kozeluh is ready to end his amateur MMA career with an exclamation point at YoungGuns 1 on Saturday at FireLake Arena in Shawnee, OK.
Kozeluh boasts an impressive record of 7-2-2. Win, lose or draw, it appears his weekend bout against the undefeated Jared Ray will be the final outing of his amateur career.
“I feel great about what I’ve accomplished, but I’m not where I want to be at all,” Kozeluh says. “There’s still so much work to be done.”
The task at hand is Ray, who brings an unblemished 5-0 record into the XFC’s Hexagon on Saturday night.
No worries, the personable Midwest fighter says with a smile.
“I don’t want to disrespect my opponent; I feel he is good for where he’s at in his career, but I’m lightyears ahead of him. My speed is too much of an advantage, my strikes are sharp and fast, my fight IQ is very high. At the end of the day, he has five fights against kids similar to his level of experience, while I have 11 fights against Bellator vets, undefeated pros.”
Where does he want to be a year from today?
“That’s easy; 3-0 as a pro, signed to Iridium Sports,” he says, “and making major waves with the XFC.”
