FITNHB fighter Meaghan Penning debuts at Invicta FC 43

ALBUQUERQUE, NM: Invicta FC 43 takes place in Kansas City on Friday, November 20, 2020, and airs live and exclusively on UFC Fight Pass at 7 p.m. CT. For more information on this event you can go here.

The event will be overseen by the Kansas Athletic Commission and will feature open scoring. With the ongoing pandemic, Invicta FC 43 will take place behind closed doors.

Making her Pro debut in the strawweight division, Meaghan Penning (0-0) fighting out of Albuquerque, NM by the way of Michigan will be taking on Alexa Culp (1-0) fighting out of Missouri. Meaghan was born on September 22, 1995 and made her amateur MMA debut fighting under the KOTC’s bannner. She currently trains at FITNHB in Albuquerque, NM with coaches Tom Vaugh, Arlene Sanchez-Vaughn, and Jonathon Judy. At FITNHB she’s surrounded with very talented fighters in the likes of UFC fighter Tim “The Dirty Bird” Means, Brenda “Boom Boom” Gonzales, Jayme “ATOMBOMB” Hinshaw and Taylor “Killa Bee” Jenkins just to name a few.

During her Ammy career, Meaghan was on a 4 fight win streak under the KOTC’s banner until she lost against Hannah Scoggins via Arm Bar at Showcase MMA. She is currently ranked 8th of 36 active Michigan women (pound for pound). Penning is now looking for her first Pro MMA career win come November 20th at Invicta FC 43.

“I’m excited to make my pro debut with Invicta FC on November 20. My opponent is Alexa Culp – she’s from Kansas City and trains with UFC featherweight Megan Anderson. I think we have similar fighting styles and it should make for an exciting match up,” said Meaghan, “We’re both aggressive and like to grapple but also both have amateur striking competition experience. I remember watching her debut in July and had 2 thoughts – 1. she’s really cute and 2. I’d like to fight her. Because of COVID, I haven’t had a fight since last October and I cannot wait to get back in the cage. Make sure you tune in November 20 – it will be shown live on UFC fight pass.”
