Garrett Armfield’s journey continues at Shamrock 322
Garrett Armfield is early in his career, but his life as a professional mixed martial artist has been a lifetime in the making.
The youngest of five siblings, Armfield practically grew up at his local karate/kickboxing school.
“All my siblings did it, so it was a big part of my life even before I actually started at a young age,” says Armfield, whose first organized class came at the age of four.
Armfield got his first pair of boxing gloves on his eighth birthday. A St. Louis Golden Gloves champ by 14, Armfield eventually made his MMA debut a week after his high school graduation.
“I was going to school for business administration, but I hated the idea of spending every day in an office and working for someone else,” says Armfield, who notched a 6-1 amateur record.
Armfield, who trains out of Hard Knocks 365 and is signed with Iridium Sports Agency is now 2-1 as a pro. He’s back in action next month at Shamrock FC 322 on Sept. 6 in his native St. Louis, LIVE on FghtBook MMA on the FITE.TV Network.
“I want to be the best in the world, obviously,” the 22-year-old says when asked about his goals as a fighter. “I want to be financially secure, fighting and competing with the best in the world.”
