Gilbert Meléndez was released from the UFC
Gilbert Melendez run with the UFC have come to an end. The lightweight was released from the organization.
Sources close to FightBook MMA confirmed his departure on Monday morning. “El Niño” received notification of his dismissal on Wednesday. Meléndez became known for his time at Strikeforce, where he was the lightweight champion of the organization. In 2012 he signed with UFC. In his time at the UFC he was not the same as in the Scott Coker organization. Where he obtained a record of 1-6. Gilbert’s last fight was at UFC 239, where he lost by unanimous decision against Arnold Allen.
