The Spanish Ignacio Capella took the victory in the main fight of Combate Americas: Mexico vs. Spain defeating the native fighter Álvaro “Chango” Herrera .
The history arena Coliseo Guadalajara resounded with emotions this Friday, March 8 when Combate Americas returned to the city of Guadalajara to bring them a billboard full of adrenaline and action.
The main card was broadcast in the United States and Canada by DAZN (English) and through Univisión Deportes and Univisión (Spanish). For Latin America and the rest of the world, the full billboard was broadcast on Facebook Watch.
In the stellar fight of the night, Herrera, a former UFCfighter , was making his Combate Americas debut and was looking for his first victory since July of last year, however, his plans were ruined by a Capella who came with determination.
Capella , showed a physical strength and incredible composure. With only 6 fights as a professional, the Spaniard climbed into the cage and during the first seconds of the fight, he showed surprising strength in each of the shots thrown, and above all, a patience that only seen in veteran fighters.
After kicking his legs, Capella managed to connect with a combination of left and right, to send ” Chango ” to the canvas, where he continued to connect with shots at ground level, forcing Jason Herzog to stop the fight.
With the victory, Capella improves his record to 6-1, and extends his winning streak to 6. The Spanish fighter has finished in all his victories and now adds 5 knockouts and a submission in his career.
In the co-feature, Mexico returned the favor to Spain when Victor Madrigal prevailed against Zebenzui Ruizby TKO at 3:50 of the second round. The Mexican gets his second consecutive victory in Combate Americas .
To complete the night, Madrigal’s girlfriend, Alitzel Mariscal destroyed Vanesa Rico by KO in the same first round, achieving for the second time, fight on the same card as her boyfriend and both emerge victorious.
