Clarksville, Tennessee: Johnathan Ivey’s Cage Fighting Championships 10 will take place on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Appleton Harley-Davidson in Clarksville, Tennessee
Jamie Lloyd is making his debut in the CFC on June 26th in Clarksville Tennessee at CFC 10. Lloyd is taking on MMA veteran Hunter Harris in the flyweight division. CEO of FightBook MMA Roberto Villa sat down with Jamie to talk abut his upcoming flyweight fight.
FBMMA: Jamie, thank you for taking the time to talk with us here at Fightbook MMA. How has training been going in preparation for your debut into the CFC?
Jaime: Thanks for having me brother, training has been going great man I’ve been doing Muay Thai at fight force fitness and working my MMA with UFC veteran Luke sanders and a lot of the fellas at LegionJJ. I feel great, ready to go on June 26th.
FBMMA: Tell us a little bit about what originally got you interested in MMA, what was it that made you first want to get in a locked cage with another man and fight?
Jaime: Honestly I can tell you that this is something I’ve wanted to do since I was probably 8-9 years old, I mean even younger than that me and my dad would watch boxing all the time, especially anytime Roy Jones Jr. was fighting. Also as kids me and my buddies/cousins use to fight/box each other when they stayed the night at my house growing up. I’m literally addicted to fighting and have been for as long as I can remember
FBMMA: June 26th you’re making your debut into the sport and it happens to be with one of the fastest growing MMA organizations in the south, the CFC. What was your connection with the organization and how did you make this happen?
Jaime: I train with a few guys who have fought and currently fight for the CFC, I went and watched a few fights and kept training and eventually they introduced me to the big man himself Jonathan Ivey and threw my name his way, and it got kicked off from there and I couldn’t be more happy about it and thankful for the opportunity.
FBMMA: The CFC Flyweight division is kind of wide open right now, without a champion. Your fight with Hunter Harris on June 26th is said to be a elimination fight with the winner possibly moving on later this year to fight for the vacant title. What does a opportunity like that mean to you?
Jaime: To be totally honestly with you, I just want to focus on the task at hand and get passed Hunter Harris on June 26th, and depending on how the fights play out, we will see what happens about a title fight, in a perfect world, me and Christan go out here and Win both our fights on the 26th, and honestly I’d rather Christan fight for the title against someone other than myself, because for 1, he’s my boy and we train together and I’m not interested in that fight, and for 2, it’s my first fight and he’s a veteran and he has put in his time. I respect him a lot and he deserves the title shot more than me if it boils down to that, I’m not ego driven so I’d be content sitting at #2 rank for a little while and fighting anyone else who wants to come up the flyweight ranks until my boy Christan loses or gives up the title, so yeah I’m not interested in fighting Chris at the moment and I don’t see that changing. But let’s say Seth wins, of course I want the title shot I’d love nothing more than to win the CFC title, in due time.
FBMMA: Hunter Harris has more experience than you inside the cage, what attributes do you think you’ll have inside the cage that will offset his experience advantage?
Jaime: No doubt that Hunter has the experience inside the cage, but I was born a fighter and been fighting my whole life, this is far from my first fist fight, so I’m not really sure what will happen June 26th man but I think my grit, speed, and athletic abilities along with my natural fighting instincts, and all the hard work that I’ve been putting in will pay off in the end. I’m just going to try and have fun in there.
FBMMA: There is another Flyweight fight on the card June 26th. Seth Britton vs Christan Lozano. What’s your prediction for that fight and knowing that you could possibly be facing the winner later this year for the CFC title, is that going to make you pay attention to that fight alittle more closely?
Jaime: I predict it’s going to be a war, Chris is my boy, I gotta go with him no doubt I’m expecting him to bring all he’s got, he’s a savage we train together from time to time and he’s super ready for this fight. As for Seth I can’t really speak on him other than the fact that he’s a bad ass on the ground from what I’ve heard and I am sure he’s focused a lot on his stand up lately and is ready for this fight as well, so who knows, it’s going to be a good fight for sure. And Of course I’d fight Seth for the title if he wins, but in a perfect world like I said before, me and Chris win these fights on June 26th and then have a few drinks and meet with Jonathan Ivey to decide what the future holds for us from there, but I see Me and Chris winning our fights on June 26th and then I see him beating whoever he fights in October again when he fights for the title, because I’m not interested in a fight with him, and so I see him holding the title for a little while, as for me I wouldn’t mind that, I’ll just keep winning fights and earn my title shot and take out a few more people while Chris does his thing, but best believe when the time comes and that belt leave Christan’s hands, it’s mine.
FBMMA: Jamie we appreciate you talking with us and best of luck to you June 26th at CFC 10. Is there anyone you would like to thank or give a shoutout to before we go?
Jaime: I’d like to give a huge shout out to DJ Miller and Austin barker, and everyone out at FightForceFitness, as well as UFC veteran Luke sanders, can’t forget the Lozano brothers, the soon to be champ big Claud, Logan, Jaysen baker, Krazy Kyle and everybody from legion, I appreciate all the hard work you guys put in with helping me prepare for this fight.
