Jon Jones Hints At Dominick Reyes Title Clash

Reigning UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon ‘Bones’ Jones, has dropped the biggest inkling yet that he will square off with perennial contender, Dominick ‘The Devastator’ Reyes in his next title defence. Jones, who last time out narrowly picked up a split decision over Brazilian Muay Thai practitioner Thiago Santos, is widely expected to meet either Reyes, Corey Anderson or Jan Blachowicz as he attempts to successfully defend his light heavyweight title for the third time in his second reign.

Taking to his official Twitter account on Wednesday night, Jones explained how he had attended a coaches meeting at Jackson Wink MMA, where he outlined his next opponent. @JonnyBones – “Just finished a coaches meeting studying Dominick (Reyes) and Cory’s (Anderson) careers. Established Dominick’s the more dangerous fighter. Beating his ass next

Jones has been linked with a matchup alongside Reyes over the last year, with the undefeated former college footballer further cementing his claim as number-one contender via a first round knockout of former middleweight champion Chris Weidman, at UFC Fight Night Boston recently. Reyes has campaigned for a title tilt over the last couple of weeks, remaining the out liar at 205-pounds.

News of a potential meeting of Jones and Reyes won’t fall well with four-fight streaker, Corey ‘Overtime’ Anderson. The wrestling standout has called for a championship meeting for almost a year, and capped off a brilliant calendar year last weekend at UFC 244, stopping the rising Johnny Walker in the opening round. After the contest, Anderson told how he wanted an immediate title opportunity or would seek his release from the promotion.

The previously mentioned Jan Blachowicz was also linked to a matchup with the Albuquerque based Jones in recent months, after his knockout of one-time 185-pound title holder, Luke Rockhold at UFC 239. The Polish finisher has since been paired with Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza, in the main event of UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo next weekend, with the Brazilian grappler making his divisional debut.
