Following the withdrawal of former UFC lightweight title challenger, Diego Sanchez from his UFC Vegas 26 retirement clash with Donald Cerrone on May 8th. — Kevin Holland has once again offered his services on short notice to the UFC, offering to meet Cerrone at a 175-pound catchweight contest.
Reports emerged yesterday evening that Sanchez had been forced to withdraw from his UFC Vegas 26 clash with Cerrone, and that the promotion was actively searching for a short-notice replacement for the Albuquerque native, which would keep Cerrone on the UFC Apex facility card.
The withdrawal of Sanchez follows the scrapping of the promotion’s scheduled main event for the card, after the returning, T.J. Dillashaw was forced to remove himself from a high-profile potential bantamweight title-eliminator against Cory Sandhagen after he had suffered a sizeable laceration above his right eye due to an inadvertent head butt during training.
Expected to take main event status in a short-notice reworked headliner, top-ten strawweight contenders, Michelle Waterson and Marina Rodriguez are expected to meet in a flyweight main event.
