Kyle Driscoll has eyes on UFC’s featherweight division

Top American Kickboxing Academy prospect Kyle Driscoll returns to action this weekend at HD MMA 12 in Oklahoma. Before that, the surging featherweight contender checked in with FightBookMMA.

How has training camp gone for this fight?

It’s been amazing. It couldn’t have been better. As far as winding up the peak on fight night, we’re right on track. I’m pumped.

Is there anything better than stepping in that cage?

No, it’s the most liberated feeling in the world. I’ve never been this prepared going into a fight. Now that I am this prepared, I truly feel I’m going to step in there and eight months of preparation are going to come out of me and I’m just going to beat this man up.

What should your fans expect in this fight?

High volume. I know that my cardio is incredible right now. I’m going to come out at a high volume, I’m going to find my takedown, and I’m going to make it very brutal off that takedown. If I let him up or he gets up, I’m going to open up the striking. That’s what’s going to happen.

What will this fight mean for your career?

It’s just a stepping stone. It’s nothing big. I had a friend ask what we’re doing after, but I don’t care. This is just a local show. This is just to show people that I’m on a different level. I’m going to go out there Friday and it’s going to look like a UFC fighter against a local fighter. The only difference between me and a UFC fighter right now is that contract and the fans are going to see that on Friday night.

Where would you like to be in one year?

Taking dudes out in the UFC 145 pound division. I know it’s attainable. I just have to go out and perform.
